Teaching excitement

I was just offered work as a lecturer - a job that I never would have thought of taking up, for I always considered myself a practicing designer who is informed by cultural theory but is by no means as knowledgeable as, say, an art historian or cultural critic. In conversations with design practitioners of all kinds it became clear that they all were hesitant in claiming that they were really suited to be lecturing. All of them were well aware of their awkward position between the non-linear way of working in the studio and the academic world of rigour.
