God Save Bankside
I’ve not been so excited about the design of an exhibition since the 176 gallery’s ‘Past-Forward’ show fully possessed the Kentish Town Memorial Chapel it now calls home – it’s something about site specific expression in spaces that weren’t meant for art.
In an era of relentless gentrification on Bankside ‘Peace is Tough’, this sort-of retrospective of Jamie Reid’s graphic work, until November 20th, defies that trend in its occupation of the bear pit (last know location of bear bating in the UK and reputed former home of notorious murderer Ruth Ellis).
